Comments about Kelty Kelty Light Year 20F 650-fill Down Sleeping Bag for Women - Long Size:
So, I did a lot of research before choosing this Kelty bag. I haven't used it much as I just recently bought it. But with that said, I am so far very satisfied, for the following reasons: This is the only bag in this price range I found for down (an amazing price, BTW) that is made with a ripstop polyester shell (more durable and UV-resistant than nylon), comes with its own compression sack (which is small, lightweight, and a must for backpacking), and has a 650-fill power (more compressible than the typical 600, albeit less than the 700+ of more expensive bags). The bag is very lightweight and warm and I was surprised and delighted to find that it is quite roomy for a mummy. I tend to spread out when I sleep, and I was able to do so more comfortably in this bag than perhaps any others I've owned. Being 5'7", this was a great length for me as well. I have read in other reviews for this bag that the zipper snags too easily, however I have not found this to be so; sleeping bags are meant to be zippered by your opposing hand, so as long as you use that technique, it is smooth and easy. I do kind of wish there was more ventilation for the feet in warmer conditions (i.e. a full-length zipper as opposed to the hip-length and foot zipper, which this bag employs), but the zipper at the bottom generally does the trick. When the bag arrived, I was surprised it wasn't loftier, but I noticed after laying it out for a day or two, it did fluff up (it was mailed completely compressed). For a 3-season bag, this is unbeatable. And if you have never used a down bag before and hesitate because it can't get wet - unless you're constantly using it in very wet conditions, I would recommend down without reservation. Its warmth, weight, and compressibility is unmatched by any synthetic.
