Comments about North Face The North Face Backtrack 50 Travel Pack:

I'll start with the one con---and it's my own personal preference---I hate embossed logos as they tend to scratch off with heavy use and degrade the appearance of the item. Just a pet peeve on my part and in no way degrades the utility of the excellent product.I purchased this bag for shorter "multi-platform" trips (from sea to bus to taxi to train---you get the idea). Caveat: just recently received it, but it has held up very well so far and I anticipate several years (or more) of dedicated service. The seams and zippers are very strong and I can pack 20-30 lbs in it without fear of anything giving way.The good: I only purchase bags nowadays with the detachable day pack---I have come to rely on the functionality of leaving larger items in the bigger section while taking the essentials for shorter day trips. However, the entire bag is OK for walking around, especially when going shopping. Very large capacity overall. I especially like the four water bottle holders, the hip belt zipper pocket, and especially the hidden zipper compartment on the back of the pack (good place to stash a wallet in higher-density pedestrian environments in order to lessen the likelihood of being pickpocketed). The not-so-good. Really only two:- Did I mention the embossed logos? I really prefer the embroidered logos on the front of the main and detachable packs. Oh, well.- The detachable day pack only fastens via four clips. Not sure about the long-term durability of this, but I prefer having a zipper (although they break as well!). Definitely not a deal breaker, and the clips are solid[...]Price also can't be beaten...And, one final thing: not sure if Sunny is stocking an older version (or a newer version), but the bag received is slightly different than the one pictured---the grey is a little more pronounced and there are some red highlights (zipper pulls and some other odds and ends). I think it looks good, too, just a little different than the all-black bag pictured.

Comments about North Face The North Face Backtrack 50 Travel Pack:

I used this backpack and the dayback on my three week trip to Australia and New Zealand. It was great for getting around airports and packing quickly. I fit a TON of stuff in this bag - my boyfriend had more cubic inches in his pack, but the shape of this bag allowed my to fit more than he could. The daypack is really big too, you'll be surprised at all you can fit. I did have a buckle breakoff of the daypack during the trip, but it's covered by the warranty and wasn't a big issue since there were three more buckles anyway....overall, I would definitely recommend for trips up to 4 or 5 weeks.

Comments about North Face The North Face Backtrack 50 Travel Pack:

I originally purchased the Backtrack 70 for an extended trip in Europe, I absolutely loved the bag. However it was too big for my smaller adventures so I purchased the Backtrack 50 and it's virtually the same bag, same great features (the zip up cover which doubles as a rain hood, the well placed pockets, and of course comfort level). I particularly like the zip up access, many packs just have an opening at the top which means you need to dig to find something, with these you just unzip and get a whole view of everything. The build of these bags is absolutely great. The attachable day bag is awesome, it fits a 13inch laptop (in this case a Macbook).
