Comments about Kelty Kelty K.I.D.S. Transit Carrier TC 3.0:
I've used this carrier for hiking and it is very comfortable for all of us (baby, wife and me). I used to carry my baby on a front carrier when hiking but the stress on my back was increasing as my baby was growing, so this seems to be the perfect next step. My baby girl is 8 months (18 pounds, 2' 4") and she fits perfectly in the highest setting. The first time we used the middle setting to bring the weight lower (like a camping backpack) but I didn't note a real difference, and in the higher position my daughter has a better view over my shoulders.
Last time, we went on a 3+ hour hike. All the hiking here is in the mountains and the Kelty TC 3 was very comfortable uphill and down. My baby even had time for a nap and seemed to be quite comfortable.
The pack capacity is enough for baby supplies (diapers, extra clothing, blanket, food) and adult's as well (water and snacks for both).
Heven't used the sun hood much but it seems ok and it allows air to flow because the sides are mesh and not plastic or vinyl. That said, it will probably help if there is a light sprinkle, but will not protect adequately if hiking in the rain which is ok for us because I wouldn´t go hiking with a baby if the weather is bad.

Comments about Kelty Kelty K.I.D.S. Transit Carrier TC 3.0:
We got this backpack for my 14 month old son since the park where we like to hike is not compatible with using a stroller. He is average height for his age and fits in the middle setting (of 3) for the harness, and he seems very comfortable and happy when he is in the backpack. It is comfortable to wear the backpack too, and I like how the lumbar adjusts. There is plenty of storage room for snacks, diapers and drinks, though the backpack does get heavy when loaded down with all the stuff. We are definitely happy with this purchase and I'm pleased I didn't go with a more elaborate framed carrier as it seemed like overkill for our day hikes. I also plan on using this when we travel by air since it so conveniently carries my son while also storing his diaper-bag essentials. I couldn't believe the low price we got from Sunny Sports as well! [...]
