I've used this pack on several short hikes and it worked great. Stays in place and carries enough water for several hours of hiking. When the bladder is full, you can't fit a whole lot of gear in the additional pocket, just the essentials. You can also remove the bladder and use as regular waistpack to carry a fair amount of items.
