These are an excellent value. I've used them from short 3-4 mile day hikes in the local park to steep inclines in the Poconos. Great for the casual hiker; breathe well, lightweight, and comfortable. Anything more serious and you'll need something with GTX, but for summertime local trails in the NE you can't go wrong.
