When it comes to safety, don't compromise it with cheaper ones out there! This product is the best compared to others that I know of. It is worth paying a little more for the best traction. This snow shoes helped me to hike faster and safer. I did not slide down even in the lightly powdered snow, uphill, while my hiking bodies were having hard time snow shoeing uphill. They were sliding quite a bit which can be unsafe.
