Didn't notice any weight gain of the shoes, and I was using 8 inch tails. Due to a layer of crust 10 inches down, I could not tell that I gained any foatation. I'll just have to try again in deep powder.

MSR does not make it clear that one can only use 6" tails with the Denali EVO. The 6" and 8" tails are almost exactly alike. They differ only very slightly in the mounting holes and molding slots but it is enough so thatthe 8" tails will not snap in correctly. Why not make both tails EXACTLY the same so that either will fit. [...]
