The new light's illumination source is a technologically advanced Cree XLamp XR-E LED, which produces a very efficient 100 lumens of light on the high setting.
It is powered by three CR123A lithium batteries, which are included. Run times are five hours for the high setting and 12 hours on low. An emergency strobe setting is also provided on the lantern that stands but four inches tall.

Excellent item, comes with batteries and carabiner. I prefer the low setting over the high because it is just too bright and rather unpleasant when you accidentally stare at it. When the lantern is on, you can just retract it and it will automatically turn off.
I purchased two at first, one for myself and one for a friend. We both loved it so much that we ordered several more for our families. I gave one to my father, he hung it on a tree while fishing and was instantly amazed at how bright it was. And eventually taking another one from me.. so here I am, writing this review and purchasing a couple more after I submit.
