This item fits the bill in aiding with tying down your tarp in windy conditions. I replaced the supplied guy lines with kelty triptease line that I have to make it more light weight. You can also lighten up your hiking weight if you carry tent poles. This product can be used with guy line and you can rig up a setup with your trekking poles instead of tent poles saving space and weight.
