NRS Bravo High-Pressure 12 Volt Pump

Nice pump but really want to praise NRS for their support

I had pre & post questions about the Bravo pump and the NRS staff was the most helpful I've ever encountered. The pump works quite well, the only issue I had was because of the design of my valve. It is the HR3 (Halkey-Roberts) with a center pin. The diaphragm spring to let the air in the valve when closed is fairly strong so the pump would bypass stage 1 (high volume low pressure) and go into high pressure mode almost immediately. This would work but would be slower. To avoid this press and... turn the center pin so the valve is open and let it fill till the board has pretty much taken shape (probably about a 1 lb of pressure) Release the hose, close the center pin and complete the fill, (this avoids high pressure escaping when finished) the pump will go into high pressure mode. The other way is to modify your fill adapter with a pin installed at the right depth (drill thru the HR fill adapter and install a pin) so the pin depresses the center pin in the valve when inserted. You will have to measure to get the right depth placement. Glue or epoxy the pin in or bend the pin over at each end so it can't come out. I don't do reviews but felt this may help others.

Great Pump

For my Clearwater Drifter which is a large boat, I inflate using a 12v blower then use the Bravo to get the desired pressure. The boat is larger than recommended by the manufacturer, but again flawless. Best tip: I use a portable battery pack to power the pump, the kind used to jump start a car. It has several advantages: easy to move to your boat with the built-in handle (no opening the hood or moving your vehicle), enough power for several boats, easy to recharge on AC outlets, and usually... has USB and worklights included.
