Purchased this mat for camping. It is a bit bulky for hiking, adding to your load. However, it worked out for bike travel and car camping.

The mat does offer some cushion to the hard ground, it is not as comfortable as an air mattress. However, its lower profile than an air mattress makes it attractive as long as you recognize the compromise.

The outside cover is nicely made and it has its own strap with buckle closure.
