JASON T The description on SunnySports reads, "The white LED delivers 60 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 60 meters." While, Petzl's site read, "The white LED delivers 80 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 68 meters." The new orange and black pics here match the ones up on Petzl's site (2013). I have the older model in the YouTube video that is claimed to be 80 lumens. I found a good, but old (2009), review that has the 60 lumens value. So, I don't know the answer, but I'd guess that it's safe to go with the manufacturer's value of 80. I love mine, regardless of its output as I tend to have it set to 70% and 15% of max on the trail, anyway. On important thing to note is that the output on AAA's is not regulated. You get that setting's max then a slow reduction in brightness. I believe using the Core rechargeable pack gives regulated output. SCOBIE P Yes, there is one primary super-bright, multi-level white LED, as well as a lesser red LED which can be turned on separately if you need a small light source that won't mess up your night vision. Both LED's can be set to flash, and the bright white one has a quick-slideover lens that lets you go from a narrow beam to more of a flood. These are all modern high-intensity LED's, and I trust them to last for many many years. They are not considered replace-able because they just don't need replacing. This is a very impressive headlamp for such a small light unit. I bought it as a lightweight backup for a 45-mile 24-hour trek in the Grand Canyon. If I were going to do the trip again (which involved over 10 hours of night hiking) I would consider going with two of these (instead of the heavier one I had with the xp2 as backup). I've always loved my Petzl Tikka lamps, but this one is the best yet by far, and strikingly bright for such a small, light unit. I know I sound like I'm trying to sell it, but I don't work for Sunny or any other gear company. I just think Petzl gear is awesome, and it has served me in some pretty tough conditions.

brandon d Yes. Most headlamps on the market use LEDs. It's a nice headlamp. I have one and have used it quite a lot. The batteries last a pretty long time too.
