Bought this as a gift for my college-age granddaughter. She loves The North Face brand, but the Resolve is one of her favorites. It's lightweight but keeps her warm and dry in the rainy and often windy Seattle weather as she goes from school to job to home. But this jacket is not just for the younger crowd. I own two Resolve jackets also...and wouldn't be without them.

This would be a great jacket except for one thing...the armpit seam is too narrow to comfortably wear a sweat shirt or fleece coat underneath for extra warmth. You would think that a raincoat such as this would be designed especially to fit with layers. The jacket fits fine everywhere else on my body except for the armpit when layering. It's fine if I don't wear an extra layer, but for what I'm paying, it should be more versatile than that. Will probably try a larger size, but not happy that the coat will then be too big elsewhere else on my body.

This Resolve jacket in medium fits about the same in the armpit as the North Face Venture jacket fits in a size small, but the Venture is tighter around the hips in size small compared to the Resolve in medium. Unfortunately, I much prefer the style of of the Resolve because the inside of the coat that shows when you wear it is also a dark color (at least in the primer purple and black), compared to the white of the Venture. And the collar of the Resolve is soft to the skin, the Venture is not.

This jacket it great. A lot of people at my school have the North Face Venture jacket. But I honestly prefer this one, the Resolve, mainly because the hood hides away. I am extremely small, but I have long arms and a long torso so I got a medium....and I don't think it is too big at all...if anything it fits perfectly and will last me a long time. I also recommended this jacket to a close friend and she purchased it in black and is in love with it!
