Shopper Is this backpack big enough for a college student to carry around a few books?
TAMARA M Yes. This was purchased for a college student. Not only will it accomodate a couple of books, it will also hold a lap top, ipad, etc. Great size for a young lady.
KIMBERLY Y As long as you're only toting around a few books, it'll be fine. If you need to carry binders or a laptop larger than 13', keep looking.

DEONNA R Yes, a few books will fit. The base extends about 6 inch. I pack it with everything, & I have to dig thru it (down to the bottom ) to get my small items. There are only a couple of pockets small in side the front compartment. My husband has the hot shot, I prefer his bag. But not the color choices.
