Shopper How long is this bag and would it be to big for a 8 year old boy?
JEFF B I'm 5'10" and length is fine for me. I think a "regular" bag is usually sized for up to 6 feet tall. Your 8 year old could always fold the bottom portion underneath until he grows into it.
WESLEY P I suppose it depends on the child. I'm a 6 foot adult of average build and it works fine for me. If it is generally warm outside the issue is that the bag may just be more than you need but won't cause a problem. i used it in hostels. If you are relying on it for warmth, then it is important that it doesn't have wasted space.
ALBERT P This bag, and most TNF regular sized bags, fit someone up to six feet tall.
JULIE J Here are the dimensions on the bag:
Regular Length (Length x Shoulder X Foot): 77"x31.5"x22"
Regular Length: fits a person up to 6 ft.
We moved my son to a full size bag about the time he was 8 - he was probably 4'9" or 4'10" at the time. He can grow into the larger size and if the length is too much of a problem, cinch the bag at the bottom with a bungie cord or stuff clothes down there to take up the extra room and keep his feet warm. I would recommend this, unless you want to buy another bag in a couple of years. North Face also makes a womens/ shorter version of this bag, I think. However, I am 5' 2.5" and found the womens bag too short for my liking and ended up purchasing the regular length.
MARKO S I am 5'10" and 165 lbs, and the bag is a very comfortable fit for me. Makes a great warm weather bag, plus it packs down to be a little smaller than a head of cabbage.
SPENCER H It's an adult bag. I'm 5' 10" and it's the right length for me. But if you want it to be a long-term investment, then it may be a good choice because it'll probably be the right length in just a few years. It's a high-quality bag that will last a long time with proper care (fully drying out after using, not storing compressed, etc).
Since it's not a cold-temperature bag, it's not as critical that it be the right size, so it may still work for a kid. But if you're looking for something that's the proper length for an 8-year-old boy today and not one he can grow into, this is not the right one for you.
SONJA R I'm not sure exactly how long it is, but I'm a 5'3" woman and have plenty of extra length (maybe about a foot). If you want one that he could use for awhile, it'd probably be a good choice.
