Shopper Adjusting the length of the pole. I have a Mountainsmith Pinnacle pole. The bottom section comes completely out. I've figured how to twist the top part of it to stay in, The middle section with the measurements- does this adjust?
MARCOS B Yes both sections are adjustable and these poles also have the shock absorbtion feature. Overall the are a solid pole and well worth purchasing especially for the price. However, for a few extra dollars I would purchase the carbonlite pro trekking poles by mountainsmith - they are much lighter, feel sturdier, have better straps, better baskets, cork handles, overall a much better trekking pole. I have put those poles to the test as well (i have had them over a year and use them very frequently mostly on really tough terrain - I even took them out to the sierra's- and they have performed exceptionally.
STEPHEN A On my poles ,which are the Pyrite 7075 poles, middle section does adjust. For height adjustment I split the difference between the lower section and the middle section. If the pinnacle and the pyrite are the same then the mid section will adjust.
JOHN P The middle and the lower does extend. Same process, loosen the plastic ring above that section, pull down, then tighten. (The upper ring has a certain two step process,...one allows for a spring to move to allow a shock absorber type process. Twist again, loosen, and then you can pull out the middle section. This is a coincidence....I just used mine this weekend.
Good Luck.
KERRY R Yes- twist to the right, pull to correct length, then twist back to the left. Great poles!! I've used the same pair for Kilimanjaro and Everest base camp and they performed beautifully!!
