I purchased this jacket as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, and he has done nothing but rave about it since he first tried it on... and has hardly taken it off since! It's quite fitted, with no extra bulky material waiting to get snagged or let heat escape. the side panels definitely add to breathability, with is nothing but a plus here in sunny San Diego, but it is definitely not windproof or waterproof if you're planning to use this jacket without a shell in a colder environment. Excellent for trapping body heat where you want it. The outer ripstop nylon is seriously soft and is probably easily snagged, but again this is an ideal technical synthetic insulated jacket - take advantage of the slim fit and the superlight weight of this jacket by layering! We spent our New Years in Joshua Tree, and this jacket was his go-to layer for the trip. No hood=fantastic layering. A great belay puffy, and easily compressible into a small stuff sack to take up the wall after your leader. Also very easily washed! Warm, lightweight, breathable, and a great fit - this jacket is his new favorite!
