Comments about Mountain Hardwear Chillwave Parka for Men:
I wanted a warm winter jacket with a hood, and I tried several, including the Mountain Hardwear Phantom, the Marmot Yukon Parka, and a North Face 700 down jacket, similar to the Chillwave. The Chillwave is warmer than the Phantom and the North Face, but not as warm as the Yukon. It was warm enough in 20 degree weather with the wind blowing, but I haven't been able to test it in subzero weather. The Yukon is more expensive, longer, and much bulkier, and the Yukon Parka is oversized. I am 6'0", 170 lbs, and the Chillwave medium fits true to size, based on the Mountain Hardwear sizing chart. I wear a 33 inch sleeve length shirt, so the sleeves on the Chillwave are perfect. The jacket fits snugly, which is what I prefer, but not too snugly, and the hood is warm. The wind blocking fabric works very well. If the Chillwave were as warm or warmer than the Yukon Parka and was waterproof, rather than water resistent, I would say it was perfect, but I am not complaining.

Fantastic Deal! Great Experience
By Don

I have seen a number of guide groups that go up Mt Rainier use this jacket for their rental equiptment so you know it must be a solid product. One group was recently selling this jacket at their shop used, after each was used about 50+ times and they still looked to be a pretty good shape. I havent used this jacket mountaineering yet, but I've heard great things from people who've worn it. I talke to a guy at REI whos worn it ice fishing in -20 degrees. My one complaint on this jacket is that the sleeves are a bit short. I wanted to size up to get a longer sleep but then the jacket overal was too big. I'm 6'1" 185 pounds and I got a large. It fits great, just my one issue with the sleeves. Highly recommend this jacket and this deal. REI sells for 340, GREAT DEAL
