Comments about Kelty Salida 4 Tent:
I took this tent to a 5 mile hiking trip in the back country of the great smokies and I am very please with it. Plenty of room for three people and some small packs. Four would be pushing it, but all tents are like this. VERY easy to assemble and disassemble which was great becasue of the storm we had to hike in. The poles are very nice quality and it works wonderfully. I love how it is light weight the tent it. I am a minimalist and I split it with one other person and could easily hike a few miles at a time. We woke up to almost what I would call a downpour thunderstorm and the tent preformed beautifully no leaks.there are some minor things about this tent such as the stakes are garbage, buy your own. I did not have any wind so I have not tested that but I believe the tent will be very sturdy with proper stakes. Also you will have to buy your own string to use the rain fly to its full potential, even without them it worked great however and I just love the vestibule it creates in the front to put your dirty things and they won't get wet. Poles were excellent quality and as far as stitching and tent materials I would say they are slgithy above mediocre, not the best but far from the worst. I would always recommend a footprint and always be gentle running your zippers and you'll have no problem. I wouldn't recommend it for kids becasue the all screen windows naturally make it a bit more fragile. But the screened material made it less weight and allowed me to hike with it which is awesome. I did put it left condensation but only a little and only after the storm and no tent wouldn't have without spending hundreds more. For the price the Salida 4 was awesome and well worth the money. While it may not last forever and be the best out there it is far superior than a lot of brands and it will last years of normal use. Remember with any tent BUY HE FOOTPRINT and ALWAYS SEAM SEAL before you go, even though I must say I forgot to seal the new tent on the trip but yet no leaks. :)
