Shopper WHAT IS THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF TENT WITH STAKES POLES AND FLY WHEN PACKED IN STUFF SACK AND READY TO ROLL?
IAN R Comes in at just about 4.5. Its done me nothin but good. I would call it a couple 2 person, I use it alone and it works mint.....
RICK O I have a 9-mil plastic ground cloth cut to exact footprint of my Salida. Tent, fly, poles, stakes, and ground cloth 4.6 pounds. I only use the tent stakes' bag, the rest is rolled together and strapped to the bottom of my pack.
EUGENE H THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF TENT WITH STAKES POLES AND FLY WHEN PACKED IN THE STUFF SACK AND READY TO ROLL is:
4.396 lb.
1.995 Kg.
70.35 oz.
With the ground cloth:
4.812 lb.
2.183 Kg.
77.00 oz.
This is a nice 3 season backpack tent. I have carried it for miles, used it in the mountains of Utah at 9000 feet and slept without the fly by a mountain lake. I do use it as a solo tent and keep all my gear inside (except for food and cooking gear) and it does nicely. Very quick to setup and break down, strong and has great poles. I do recommend this tent.
CHRISTOPHER P As I understand it, the 3'12oz mentioned in the specs refers to the weight of the tent and fly alone. The packaged weight includes the stakes as well as the box that the tent came in. I haven't weighed mine but I can tell you that aftermarket stakes are better and lighter. Also, I never bring more than two stakes with this tent anyway since many hard spots I want to pitch my tent on resist stakes. I much prefer to tie on to a stick and then bury the stick under a rock(s). Try it sometime - you'll screw up a few times but when you get the hang of it you'll have a more secure tent AND lighter pack.
All that aside, this is my forth tent as well as my favorite. It packs down very small, is really light and yet I don't feel like I have to treat it with kid gloves. I have friends with comparable tents - they all cost more than $300! Staked down the Salida has withstood 40-50 mph winds on Mt. Hood easily. I love this tent!
DEBRA S Sorry I don't know the exact answer to this question.
the specifications state:
Average Min Weight:
3 lb 12 oz
Average Packed Weight:
4 lb 8 oz
Hope this helps you. My grandson uses it and loves the tent. Sets up easily, keeps warm in cold weather, etc.
EDIE S Sorry, I don't know. Only used the tent once and didn't backpack with it. But I think that if you goggle the tent you will be able to find the specs. without the stuff sack. That's what I did and based on what I found, I thought that the tent was really light weight. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it since weight was my primary consideration.
