Comments about Kelty Gunnison 3.1 Tent:
Very easy to setup, lots of features. Light enough for backpacking. Size is enough for 2 and some gear. Buy the matching kelty footprint...

good tent

It's a great tent but the poles seemed to be too small and weak for the distance and forces it had to resist. I DID NOT test it in the wind. I ended up sending it back to get a tent that I would have complete confidence in. I recently snapped a different tent's pole in the wind and just didn't want to take chances. It does have lots of room, a good design, waterproofs well under a sprinkler in the front yard, and does have six guy points that might help it against the wind.If you're not going to be facing gale-force winds then I would highly recommend this tent
Great Tent!!

My favorite tent so far - great lightweight and very very easy assembly. After the first time, setup is quickest I've ever seen. Literally, as you pull the poles (all connected) out of the pole bag and raise them into the air, they magically snap themselves together in about 2-3 seconds... I've never seen anything like it. Then you insert each pole end into a unique plastic "socket," - just push them right in. Finally, you slip the (very easy) "s hooks" over the poles and assembly is complete minus the rain fly.Rain fly can be set up to reach almost all the way to the ground if you want to eliminate wind or any possibility of getting wet.Remember to purchase the footprint (very light as well) with this tent. LOVE THIS TENT!
Purchased September 2010

My wife and I purchased this tent (along with a Kelty Lakota 4000 pack) for a AT trip planned over the Labor Day weekend in 2010. [...] As soon as I opened the package I began setting it up in my living room which took (maybe) 10 minutes. It's constructed well and has a great floor plan! I did lots of research through YouTube before deciding on this item. If your looking for the best and least expensive tent for 2 adult backpakers, this should be in your top 3 picks. My wife packed the poles and I packed the tent and fly. My only negative comment is the floor material is super thin but thats what you get for a light tent. I would recommend a tent repair kit and a 8'x10' tarp for using underneath the tent floor.
Great tent, great value

We recently used this tent for the first time on a multi-night backpack in the NW for 2 adults + golden retriever. Worked very well. I would say it's not ultra-light, but light for what you get in terms of square footage and features. Like my other Kelty tent, I found this tent go be well designed and thought out and easy to set up--also features like the gear loft are nice extras that are actually useful. Kelty consistently designs products that are a good value with high quality. I don't know why anyone would spend twice as much or more for a different brand.
