Shopper I am interested in buying this product for my daughter-in-law. I am deciding between the regular and long version. The one is 72 inches and the other is 84. I don't mind spending the extra for the longer one but want to be certain it is the best one for her. She is between 5'6" and 5'". Is there any down side from buying the longer one if she is the height I have listed? Is there an up side buying a little larger? Thanks for a quick response!

MARK K I am 6 ft 3 and the extra length fits me well. I don't think that it would be a problem buying the longer size. My wife is 5 ft 7 and she has the regular size with a few inches to spare. Its a great sleeping bag. If she's five foot to five six I would suggest the 72.
JOHN K At 5'6", the regular size will be adequate; If you thought someone taller might ever use it, then the long version will serve both. The only trade-off on the Long for your DIL is that there would be a little more room at the foot and it might take a few minutes longer for her body heat to warm up the bag. Also, every manufacturer has a slightly different "cut" and the shoulder girth (width) makes a difference depending on the size of the individual; for average size or smaller, the regular would work (girth is 58"); you get a little wider bag with the Long. I'm a long time backpacker and love this bag for the often rainy Pac. NW, especially when temp. is near freezing. Note: they're using "comfort temp ratings" now, which is usually a little lower that what the bag is "rated" for, and women typically sleep a little colder than men. Hope this helps.
DANIEL B Not really. At 72 inches she will have a ton of room. All a bigger one will do is future proof her and add weight to her pack in the mean time.
