JUSTIN F I was looking for a backpack to help tire my dogs out on our walks and i found this product that also doubles as a reflective vest. I put my dogs water, toys, and treats in the backpacks and they don't seem to mind wearing it at all. In fact, they get pretty excited when i pick up the packs, so much that they slide their heads in on their own. I am planning to buy another one for my puppy soon. I just wish they came in different colors, other than that, great product.

BRANDY S Sorry it has taken me so long to reply! We love this pack. It doesn't rub on our dog and is great quality. Ours is a medium and Abby, our dog is 56 lbs and is a Dogo Argentino. There is not a lot of extra room so if your dog is not going to grow more I would think the medium could fit... have never seen the large though, so not sure how small it goes... might be a safer bet if there is any chance for growth. I recommend this pack for sure!

JUSTIN F Hey Jen, I would suggest getting the large backpack, it'll fit him nice, and he's only going to get bigger in the next couple years. There are pouches on both sides, and you can undo the clips to the pouches as it doubles as a reflective vest. This has been a good product so far. I fill up the pouches with their water, toys and water dish, and they have no issues with it. I also haven't seen any scratches or rashes on my dogs from the backpack, so i'm sure she'll be happy and comfortable with it. Hope this helps :)

LINDA K L I bought the medium Long Howl for my dog when he was just under 3 yrs old and weighed about 65 lbs. Between 3 and 4 yrs though, he had a growth spurt and now weighs about 80 lbs (he's 4? yrs old now). At 80 lbs, I think a large would fit him better. However, the straps are adjustable and even at 80 lbs, he can still wear the medium. We have been very pleased with the Long Howl. It is good quality and looks good on too. There is a pocket on both sides and an interior pocket inside each of the outer pockets. We would definitely recommend the Long Howl.

DUANE R Jen, The large will be best. There is plenty room for adjustment, it will cover her rump better and she will have room to grow. It has dual removable packs. I often use just the vest in cold, wet/snow weather. Keeps my dogs dry and warm. My dogs love them. I also use the packs to strength them with different weights. Very versatile and well made unit. CRYSTAL A I should included that I don't remember if this site had the sizing chart on it or if I had to go to another site to find it but here it is: The Granite Gear Long Howl dog pack is available in your choice of size options. Though sizing can vary dramatically from breed to breed, Granite Gear offers the following suggested girth (measured around the widest part of your dog?s chest) ranges for selecting the appropriate size: XS: 23-26 inches S: 26-29 inches M: 29-32 inches L: 32-35 inches XL: 35-38 inches Sizes available: LG, MD, SM, XL, XS (My dog measured exactly 26inches and I ordered the XS which I thought was crazy for a 45# boxer lab mix --since when is he called XS??-- but it fits and it would have been way to big had I bumped him up to a Small. So for your pup I would say start with a M if her chest gets broader as she matures you have a bit more room to expand too.)

CRYSTAL A The easy question is Yes there are pouches on BOTH sides of the vest. I'm always afraid of getting the wrong size too so sizing questions are hard for me. I will say that I used the measurement guide given for this pack and ended up ordering a pack that I thought would be way to small... but turns out it does fit and if I had went with my idea of the "right size" he would have been swimming in his pack! I would stick to the measurement size guidelines and buy that size. Additionally my dog was exactly on the cusp of two sizes and I selected the smaller size which fits him great.

DUANE R Hi Jen, I will advise you to go for the large as there is adequate room to adjust and your dog has yet another year of growth. It does have pouches on both sides that easily detach. I often use the vests alone on cold wet or snowy days. It keeps my dogs warm and dry. It is not likely to snag on the brush. It can be frustrating to hook-up at times especially if the dog is figgity. It has been very useful and of good quality. My dogs love the vests and cooperate after having overcome fear of the unknown. A good investment.

ROGER O Excellent choice! I had my fingers crossed when I decided to purchase this product and I couldn't be more pleased. This pack appears to be very comfortable for my boxers and durable enough to scrape through the toughest terrain. There are two pouches on each side of the pack and if if you evenly distribute the weight beteeen the two pouches the pack stays perfectly centerd for the duration. My boxers both wear a medium and weigh between 45 and 50 pounds. I recommend a large for your lab considering it already has my boxers by 15 pounds. I used the sizing chart they offered and it worked out perfectly. I absolutely love this pack and believe it is worth every penny! Good luck! Bo

CHRISTINA R Hi, I got an email from the site to answer your questions... I have a black lab/hound mix, she weighs about the same as your baby, & she's about 1 1/2 years old. Last Sept. (she turned 1 in Nov), we bought this pack to go on a hiking/camping trip. I got her the size M, which fit like a glove & the great part about it is that the straps in the front and under her belly are all adjustable, allowing for a little more growing room. The reason I picked this style over the other was because, like you, her comfort was my priority & the straps and vest were padded, providing a little more comfort to her on our hike, plus the pouches are detachable (we gave her a rest too when we took water breaks), and the vest reflective (which was pretty awesome when we ended up having to hike into the night on one occasion). The pouches are on each side, and are identical, so no worries about her being off balance- I posted a picture to the site of Adelaide and her pack, she's the black dog with the white chest in a parking lot, wooded background- taken at the trailhead to our 3 day back country trip.
