Shopper would this seat be good on a boat? worried about water/drying out.
thanks.
KAREN L The seat material appears to be water-resistant. I haven't used it in water-prone areas. It is a great little chair to take anywhere you need some back support.
DIANE B I just took a look at the chairs, and I don?t believe the nylon covers are waterproof (water-resistant, probably). Also, it feels like spongy foam just beneath the nylon cover, and if it got wet, it would probably stay that way until set out to dry. The nylon would probably dry quickly, and let the foam air out, but I am guessing the foam itself would act like a sponge. There are no pulls on the zippers, so the covers are not designed to be removed. There is a tag stating this attached to the chair.
REBECCA P this is the greatest boat seat ever devised. But, yes, they do get wet, and depending on the weather, can take some time to dry out. This depends on air temperature and whether it is raining or not. We are white-water rafters. Please be aware that the bottom of this boat seat needs to be strapped down for full security.
DONNA H I put a few drops of water on my pod chair and the cover is not waterproof. The water sank into the polyurethane cover. The pad inside is a foam, but I wouldn't recommend getting it wet as it could mold inside if it did not dry out properly. The pod chair is comfortable and I really like it for sports events where seating is hard, but I would not recommend it for boating.
HELENE U I use mine at the beach with no problem getting the surface wet. I have never soaked the whole thing through, but should be fine for a boat trip. The frame inside is metal so I would just leave it out to dry for a few hours before putting it away. Make sure you weight it down or store it if you are not using it while in motion on a boat with an engine. It's lightweight, comfortable, and the adjustable back is awesome.
Both me (petite lady) and my 200lb man use them at the park and beach. Might be a little small/uncomfortable for anyone way over 200. Hope this helps.
RACHEL F I would say YES. We have canoed with them. Have had these pod chairs for a few years and have left them outside at times too and they survived fine! Also use them by the pool and they seem to dry well after wet people sit on them.
MIRANDA F This chair is best used on grass or in a stadium not for a boat.
GREG P I bought it to use in the shallow beach end of the pool. It worked well, but it was hard to get it to dry out. It retained a lot of water. If it's not going to get soaked it would work well, but if it will get extremely wet - probably not. I hope this helps.
