Questions about this item:
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
DON S Price, reviews. Have been very pleased with it since march 2011.
DANIEL R Fro the Price and size
Shopper does the tent hav a vestibule ?
KENT G Yes mine did. nice tent
MICHAEL O The attachment to cover the tent makea a little room in the doorway. Its too small to sit in it but you can store things and its covered.
STANTI S Yes, it has two when the rain fly is on.
KAREN I With the fly installed, there is a vestibule on either side - a good place to put your shoes and a few other things. As long as it doesn't rain so hard that water runs over the ground, they will stay dry under the fly.
I love the tent! Keep in mind, though, that I'm not a backpacker, but a recreational 1 - 2 night camper.
PATRICIA C When you put on the fly, there are two vestibules that you can store your gear in by either opening. They are small and work the best with a large tarp under the tent as the vestibule is only a covering with out a floor, so the tarp comes in handy. If you use it for one person, there is plenty of space inside to store quite a bit of gear. My son uses the tent for scouting and loves it!
CHARLES J The fly covers both entrances with enough room to store a backpack on each side.
PHILLIP L Yes. "The full coverage fly features two roomy vestibules that provide weatherproof storage and dry tent entry."
danny c Ar you accepting pay pal thanks?
Zack W We sure do, just click at the"Check out with Pay Pal" icon when checking out. Enjoy it! Zack.
Shopper Did it last?
JOHN D have not used extensively but with eureka i don't believe you can go wrong.
GUENNADI S so far so good )
KENT G I have used it about 3 times, once at red river gorge and 2 times car camping.
nice tent for the money , I
DERREK B I've only used it a few times so I cannot say for certain but it is well built. I expect it to be very durable.
CHAD C Yes, work on a fire crew for the Forest Service so used this tent all summer and so did the rest of the 20 person crew. Probably used over 60 times during the summer and no one had any problems.
GREGORY A. K So far so good--but I do 'baby' my gear.
David B Yes; the tent worked great for a backpacking hike up to Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. The tent is still in great condition.
DANIEL R Yes, it lasts. Our three boys are still using it every time
we camp! Good quality tent.
ERROL S I am an avid backpacking/camper. I'm 55 y/o and remember camping in coated canvass tents this size. This tent is by far the best backpacking tent I've ever had. The set up is 4 minutes in a rush/ rain and 7 if you're chillin'.
It will sleep two comfortably and one like a high end hotel. The rain fly really works well and has been tested by myself in South Louisiana rain storms and wind. The loft is cool and the zippers are flawless. That's all folks.
CHARLES J Yes. Bought 4 for use by Boy Scout Troop 2 years ago. They are all in use with no problems with any of them.
LORI B We have 5 total that our Boys Scout Troop use every month and I think we have only had one issue with a pole from this last trip.
PATRICIA C Yes! My son is using it for his boy scouting adventures and it is holding up well
DON S I bought this tent in March 2011. I used it a couple weekends around home and for 8 days in Wyoming. I'm very pleased with it. Easy to set up, easy to take down. Seems very dry but fortunately have not yet slept through a stormy night in it. I'd rate it 5 stars for quality. I did get the footprint too to help with wet ground. I think it was a good value too. You can spend a ton of bucks on similar products.
I wouldn't say I've really put it through the paces, but for an occasional shelter, this one is it for me.
I have a good LL Bean 4 person dome tent that I use for camping with my sons, but I got this one just for me to have some room to sleep and keep my stuff in at night.
RUDOLPH L It's been a great tent. I've used it about a dozen times and in pretty rugged conditions. The rain gaurd works great. I had two big rainfalls with lots of wind and not a drop inside. It packs pretty well. Not tears or holes. I had to get a couple of new spikes as the ones it came with werent the greatest but then again I did have some pretty hard ground I was nailing them into. I highly recommend it especially for the money. Hope this helps.
KELLI K I bought the apex 2xt but never tried it out. We opted for the big Agnes jack rabbit and we love it. Used it 5 times and so far no complaints. The big Agnes was more $$ but a good bit lighter and really easy to set up.
DAVID C Yes, I continue to use two of these tents (my own and my son's), and they have held up very well.
Shopper How well did it work? Were you happy with it?
JOHN K I am a Scout leader and our troop uses thes tents. They are very easy to set up. We have purchased 15 -20 tents over the years with little problems in using them. We have broken poles but that is what happens when young scouts. I will continue to buy more of thes tents in the future.
J
GUENNADI S It worked just fine for me.
GREGORY A. K We really liked the tent. We hiked into the Heaven's Gate Wilderness Area in Riggins, Idaho. We slept in it for two nights and then hiked out. Plenty of room for my wife and I. I really like the doors on each side of the tent. That made getting in and out much easier.
RICHARD C Yes. Worked great. Easy set-up and take down. A little snug for two large people (6' and 6'4"), but worked fine. No leaks, though haven't used it in a real downpour. Definitely get the inside floor cover and upgraded spikes.
PATRICIA C I am very pleased with the Apex 2XT tent. I bought it for my boy scout and it is very easy to put up and take down. It has the zipper entry on both sides of the tent which is very handy. I did buy sturdier tent stakes as we live in a very windy place. We are very happy with this tent!
DYLAN H I'm quite happy with this tent! Having the dual side-doors and vestibules makes it easy for you and another person to share the tent. It's light enough to take backpacking (assuming you split the weight between yourself and a friend). I haven't used it in the rain yet, but the rainfly appears to do a good job of covering all mesh areas (the tent walls aren't covered because they're also made of rain-proof material). I would reccommend seam-sealing any new tent before taking out in the rain. There are lots of good how-to videos on Youtube that can help you with this process. Hope this review helped! Enjoy!
DANIEL R It works Great, easy to set up, easy to take down. We plan on using it alot this summer. You cannot go wrong with this one.
Thanks for the great price and a great tent.
LEE S Good middle of the road tent.
RICHARD F Well the tent works well for are boy scout troop. We taken them out 4 or 5 times a year from 2-days up to 2 weeks. things do go wrong but for the money, your getting a lot of tent.
DAVID T Worked great. We used it in late spring. It let plenty of breeze through and kept the light rain off of us. For the price, it's a really good value. I like how small it packs up when you're finished camping.
RON F it is kind of small but it works great for one person... id imagine if you put all your gear under the rain flys two people would fit but it would be tight.... but it goes up super easy.. over all im happy with it..
DAVID C I love my Eureka Apex 2XT tent. Our family has two of them - one that my wife and I use, and another that my son uses for Boy Scouts. I have used mine in January when 6-8" of snow fell on it overnight, in torrential rain, on a beach in the summer, etc. It has never leaked, and I have always been comfortable in it.
JACK S Great for backpacking for two! Too bulky when you have to carry all your own supplies. Excellent quality!!!!
jeff c can you get aluminum poles with this tent?
DAVID C The number I called, where I was given a price quote for either fiberglass or aluminum replacement poles, was 1-800-572-8822. For those involved in scouting, when I mentioned it was for a Boy Scout, there was a pretty considerable discount on the prices I was quoted.
RICHARD F Aluminum poles are better but cost more, How often are you planning to go camping? If it is more than five times a year I would go with the Aluminum, less I would go with fiberglass poles I think over all it is a good tent. and you will be pleased with either one.
REDKIN D Hi ! I guess it is possible to buy an aluminum poles for Apex 2XT tent You have to ask the Eureka support for the fiberglass poles lenght and to replace them with the appropriate by any producers aviable
SCOTT D I don't believe so. The poles need to be somewhat flexible.
ERROL S I don't think so. Because of the tents design, I think only shock corded poles would work unless you would want to invest more money in having a custom designed set of aluminum poles. The tent is very stable with the SC poles and has good tie offs to secure under windy conditions. I have several tents of similar size and this is my favorite.
Errol S
RON F it doesn't come with them but you can probably get them separately from eureka
DAVID C Yes, it is possible to get aluminum poles for this tent, though I don't know if you can get them from Sunny Sports. I needed a replacement pole for one of my Apex 2XT tents a year ago or so, and contacted Eureka by phone (check the website, I don't recall the number - it may have been the parent company, Johnson Outdoors). At the time, I was offered the choice of a replacement fiberglass pole for (strangely, I still have a sticky note about this) $17.71, or an aluminum replacement pole for $24.54.
MICHAEL O I think you need to look at the Scenic Pass by Eureka. Sunny Sports has them on their site too. Just a little bit more money, but they come with aluminum poles.
Shopper What is the difference between the Eureka Apex 2 and the Eureka Apex 2XT?
SunnySports S The Difference between the two is that the Apex XT has a full coverage vestibule and the Apex 2 does not. Stay safe and have fun out there! Neal
