Shopper Is this tent seem sealed? Can a camp stove be hung from ceiling to cook inside tent?
STEVE C mine is sealed but some of the last ones made are not, there is a loop to hang things from and the tent breaths very well but as a fire fighter I cant say I would use a stove in it. It is a good tent pack weight is almost 7 pounds. sunny is great about taking things back so if your not rushed order it and check it out for most cold weather and 5 to 6inches of snow it has worked well
JIM C I would not cook inside the tent. Its a small backpacking tent and will sleep 1 comfortably or 2 (me and my son) resonably comfortably. I have used it in rain, snow, and wind, absolutly dry.
MICHAEL Y I am not an extreme camper or hiker, but in my experience, reading about what others do....it's always been said that the first thing you have to do is seal up your seams. No matter what tent you have.... I'm sure it won't hurt even if they have been done. As far as the cook stove.....never cook inside a tent. Use the vestible for that.....carefully!! Awesome tent otherwise. I live in Wisconsin where the weather always changes. This tent can handle that. I bought it for kayak-camping so I don't care about the weight. Separate the poles and rain fly from main tent and it can easily be stowed away. Easily rivals a more expensive tent.
SCOTT K The Colman Helios X2 tent is seam sealed, and has not leaked for me. I have used it in light to moderate rain. As for cooking in the tent, i do not remember seeing a way to hang a camp stove. As a rule, i personally do not cook in my tent due to fire concerns and food smells attracting animals.
This tent is double walled, meaning, that the tent has a rain fly that is basically totally impervious to rain. The inner wall (actual tent) is supported using scandium-aluminum poles, and is covered with a silicone sealed rain fly. The only section that you might worry about is the floor seams of the inner tent, and you can purchase seam sealer to re-do the seams every year if you wish.
CRAIG M I was wrong in thinking that the rain fly was sealed, my wife and I found out the hard way in the Salmo Wilderness! I had to seal it. As far as cooking in the tent I can say it has vents I don't see an issue. I did however have to replace a lateral tent pole, one broke at a connector joint. All around great tent for two people, excelled in winter camping!!!
GERRY K Being sold as a "mountain storm tent", the Helios X2 is most definitely seam sealed.
As for a place to hang a stove for cooking inside, I would hesitate to comment on this because of the inherent dangers of doing so. Do an internet search for "cooking in a tent" to find plenty of material on the subject.
There is a loop in the ceiling to hang a lantern or other items.
NILS E The tent is seam sealed. It handles heavy rain, snow and wind extemely well. The frame is sturdy enough to hang lantern from the ceiling. I am a little anal on safety and would never recomend cooking inside a tent becasue of it being a fire hazard and the potential corbon monixide hazzard.
It is a great tent for winter camping.
BENJAMIN T I would never cook inside this tent or any tent. Cooking is best done outside f where you sleep. If you want to risk it, I would recommend a closed system like a jetboil, but still, that is very risky. The tent is a 4 season tent. It is quite strong. The seams are sealed and it has a rain fly. This tent has kept me dry in a rain storm, however, I have not taken it into a snow situation yet. Not a bad 4 season for the price.
