Shopper How much weight can go atop this stove---a medium size pot full of water?
What about a 9" alum skillet or a med. sized griddle?
What have you used on top of this besides a mess kit size skillet?
SHAWN H The stove can accommodate medium size pots with water, and it will also hold a 9" aluminum skillet. The important thing is too make sure that the stove is properly level, and that the pot is centered on the stove.
CONRAD R I have used it with a standard pasta pot (a little over a gallon of water) filled with dogs and kraut at the beach. It was a windy day, so we used the beach umbrella as a wind screen. Cooked cornbeef hash in a 8 inch skillet eary one morning while fishing on the pier. The frypan was a walmart special with a folding handle. Used a 12 cup coffee perculator on it numerous times. Never had a proplem with using any of the mentioned pots... Hope this helps you out
WILLIAM S I have used a 4 quart pot full of water and a 9" uminum skillet. The legs need to be on a very flat surface for maximum stability.
ERIC C I would not attempt to cook with a 9" skillet on this stove. This really is designed for lightweight backpack cooking only. I have boiled 16ozs of water and have used a small pot to cook eggs.
You might want to look at another style of stove if that's the kind of cooking you want to do. Good luck!
I just want to add, this stove is awesome! Works fantastic everytime, score!
WILLIAM M I have used my stove with a 12 cup coffee pot and a full sized cast iron skillet, but I use bricks or rocks stacked around it for support from the skillet being knocked over. The stove alone can handle a lot of weight.
JOHN B I've used it for everything up to a 8" or 9" 6 quart pan for boiling pasta. You just have to be careful.
In general I've been very happy with this stove.
GARY M It is a very solid piece. Not sure about the griddle but it works fine with a medium size skillet or pot. Just remember all of your heat is conce trated in the middle of a larger skillet. So stir often.
LINDA P You could easily use the medium size griddle or a medium size pot for water. the one thing I would highly caution you would be to use this stove on a level surface that has been properly prepared so your heavier item won't tip over the stove. If it balances properly then you are good to go. Surprisingly this little stove is built tougher than it looks. Be careful with the boiling water. I would highly recommend someone hold onto the handle of the pot of water so it does not spill and you get scalded.
I love my litle stove and would replace it if it was lost or stolen in a heartbeat. For the size and quality you can't find a better lightweight stove. I also have a 2 burner Coleman kerosene box stove that I use for heavier items such as water boiling, et.c Have had that for years.
Try experimenting with your little stove before trying it out in nature though.. for best results.
