JOHN M Hi - The lantern works very well. Light is bright. It's very compact and lightweight. It is plastic, so it may not be as durable. Works fine for light to medium duty. Also, the light is 360 degrees - its not a spot, so it doesn't work so good for reading. But it lights up your tent pretty good. It will light up a small campsite with subtle light - in other words its probably not bright enough for lighting large outdoor areas. Happy with it! Great for small adventures....... JK
