Shopper are the distance and beam width good?
RICHARD B I am very happy with this headlamp. In fact I have it on now while camping. The focused beam is great when you need a bright light for near or far. The beam is the right size for a night walk. The broader light is nice for reading or a general working light.
JARED T Absolutely. This is a beast of a headlamp.
MELINA L Yes! I find the distance and width to be perfect, especially because you can adjust the settings. My friends are always envious of how bright my light is vs. theirs. I think the Spot is a great value for the price.
CROSBY T The distance / high power beam is bright, throws light pretty far and moderately wide. The other setting (two LEDs going) is very wide and more diffused.
Powerful little headlamp for the $.
GUSTAVO M It works pretty good, better than I expected
NICOLE T I bought this in January of 2011 (it's now almost April 2012). I'm not sure of measurements, but with fully-charged, high capacity AAA batteries, you can see quite far on the "spot" setting. The beam width is wide enough that you don't feel like you have tunnel vision. The "flood" setting is really nice; it's a diffuse, wider beam. Both of these settings have variable brightness, which is nice. Besides backcountry use, I use this headlamp every night for reading in bed on the diffuse setting with the brightness down. The only downside I've found with this headlamp (not that you asked) is that the little button on top can be difficult to find in winter camping gear (liner gloves, inner mitts, outer mitts). Then again it's hard to do anything in that gear. I love this headlamp, and if anything ever happens to it, I will replace it with another BD spot for sure.
