TOM W Yes, there is a hidden hood. It is very thin though.
JON K I think so...can't remember. Its very warm and cozy. In bad weather I wear it under a North Face shell.

AMOGH K The hood goes completely inside a small "pocket" around the neck. Once tucked inside properly, you can not see anything but the chain.
STUART S Yes, it's got a built-in stowable hood, made of rain-protecting, but non-thermally-insulating nylon-type material.
The rest of the Nuptse is thermally stunning. This jacket is awesome. Light and warm. I love it.
Take note, though: I've generally avoided using it as protection against any elements other than temperature. It probably would do fine in a drizzle or falling snow, and it probably would delay the cold wetness from hitting your body for a little while in even a bigger rain. The fabric is lightweight though. One thing this jacket won't do is protect itself from brush, twigs, or small holes that could be caused by floating embers from a campfire (the ripstop is good, though). So I always use it as a (very very successful) mid-layer. It's more of a 'sweater', in that sense. Because your question has to do with a hood, I figured I'd include that info. I find it best to add whatever extra outer layer is appropriate to the task at hand to pair with this. This way, I can dial in the weight, rather than carry a heavy parka around all the time - my reasoning for purchasing the Nuptse instead of a parka (that, and price). Sometimes I'll use a lightweight, breathable nylon-type pullover if there's wetness in the air; sometimes I'll use a tougher parka-type Gore-tex shell; sometimes just a stupid old cotton zip-up hoodie when car-camping, and sometimes nothing at all (when I know no pointy or burny bits are around). If you want a parka/winter 'coat', all in one product, just take note that that would be a different item than the Nuptse. The Nuptse does have the heat aspect of a parka quite completely handled, and it's got the comfort aspect of "Hey, this feels like I'm wearing a cozy, very maneuverable sleeping bag!" (indeed, sleeping in the Nuptse is fine, when laying under the stars with a blanket. If you want anything additional to that, just add it.
I picked up a smallish nylon stow bag for it, too. Makes a good pillow or backrest on flights.
