KYLE T The snowshoes themselves are made out of plastic. All hardware is metal including the foot base and teeth on the underside. I highly recommend these snowshoes, they are the absolute best I have used.

JEFF M They are made or a flexible plastic with steel rails along the bottom for traction and rigidity. I have gotten into rocks and ice at very cold temperatures and they stay flexible and don't chip or break. I have a friend who wore this same shoe on McKinley 2 years ago and they performed great.

KEN W Primarily plastic with metal gripping edges. It sounds like a cheesey setup which I was very doubtful about but these things are tough! We have gone over some bare ground and rocks but there isn't even a chip in them. These are the ones to get as we see many hikers with the same model.

JEFFREY J Some kind of very tough plastic which seems unaffected by the cold. On anything but powder they are noisy. I prefer my more expensive, aggressive, and quieter Lightening Ascent but the grip on the Evo is still very good, just don't like the noise. I bought these for my daughter but she walks kind of pigeon toed so she kept hitting the tips together. MSR has a set with adjustable bindings that can be angled either way to solve alignment issues (pigeon toe or duck toe) and those have been great and no more hitting the tips. Binding is nicer also and pretty much set it and forget it. The Evo Ascent's are now for backup duty or for friends to borrow.
