Shopper Are the clip parts of the backpack straps sturdy? Is it comfortable on as a backpack, or does it feel awkward? Thanks!
CHRISTOPHER S The hybrid hauler is a converting pack. The clips themselves are some type of plated metal swivel clip ( cro-moly? ) on the small size however, seem sturdy. I do not know the weight test or strap connection burst rate of these used in this backpack feature. The product engineering is fine. The bottom part of these shoulder straps clip to similar matching metal tri-loops to make a secure connection. nylon can be quite strong in small sizes. I have not used the hybrid hauler for backpacking or even to make an extended commute. It also is supplied with a shoulder sling strap that I have used and find it works well. I tried the 2 shoulder straps on as a backpack. These straps are a nice size, and padded. I would like to note if using as a backpack the main cargo opening becomes the back facing portion. This is the opposite of a bag that is designated as a backpack . Bulk volume items are best kept in the outward portion that is the base while laying flat. The straps are padded more than a standard backpack.
