Was looking to replace an REI rain coat. This is more lightweight and works well, but not a heavy as the REI. So if you want a lightweight jacket, this one is great.

It's a nice light rain jacket, with an emphasis on light. The flap covering the zipper doesn't always lay in the correct position naturally because it's very light. It's really nice having the stow pockets inside.

I purchased it medium size dual color (light blue and blue). Tested it in a decent rain. The Marmot held it well, did what it is made to do.

While I haven't had a chance to try it out in rain on a warm day, this jacket has been great! I had been looking for a rain jacket for a while - my previous ones either didn't do a good job of keeping the rain and wind out, or the effective waterproofing coating would flake off. For better or worse, I've had a number of chances to test this jacket, And each time, it's kept me dry and comfortable.

This thing is amazing, perfect for the trail or any additional light weight waterproof shell applications. I can ball it up and throw into fishing bag and the wrinkles come out easily if you wear it for a couple of hours. Great! Great hood too

Love it! Only wish it had a double-zipper and maybe a snap up at the top of the zipper. Hope the DWR holds up better than my previous jacket (from a different manufacturer).

this is a super, breathable, lightweight jacket for warmer temps, but I wish it had a chest pocket for phone. Medium was great fit for 5'8, 172 athletic build.

Marmot's Precip Jacket is my go to cover for the normal rainfall we get here @ PDX. For cold or heavier weather I add a Zeus vest or Jacket. The Precip has Pit Zips, Adjustable hood, and Pockets you can actually use. The Precip does everything I ask at a fair price. Oh yeah it comes in plenty of colors so if you're stylin' your in.

This is a good looking and highly functional rain jacket! I like that the sleeves unzip when it gets too warm. The hood is easy to take out and refold beneath the collar. Packs up easily. Great deal!

Took my Precip to Iceland, where it rains a lot, and it did the job! Long hikes up mountains in the rain and I stayed dry. Great jacket at a great price!

I did a lot of research before I settled on this jacket. Marmot has always had great clothing for my needs so that brand was at the top of my list. And in the end, I couldn't find any competing product at anywhere near the price with better performance. So, once I decided on the Precip jacket, I went straight to SunnySports website. They had a great price, they had the color (Greenland) and size that I wanted, they shipped quickly, and it arrived in a couple of days. My typical SunnySports experience. Some background.....I'm a 6'0" tall guy. I weigh about 210 lbs. My chest measures 45", my waist 34", and my sleeve length in a dress shirt is 34/35. I have a fairly athletic build. So, based on my measurements and the Marmot size chart, I ordered a size Large and the fit is perfect. It's fairly loose with just a tee shirt with plenty of room for an insulating layer in really cold rain. Sleeve length is excellent coming down to about my knuckles with my hands at my side. So, any clothing under the jacket is protected. The length of the jacket is good too. It comes a few inches below my waist so you can move and still be protected. Does it stop water? Yup! I wore it for an hour yesterday at 70 deg F in a pouring rain while gaining about 1,000 feet in altitude. Nothing got through. Is it breathable? Well yes, it's a lot better than my 10+ year old GoreTex gear. But.....keep in mind the conditions you'll be using this in. Yesterday was warm. That means you're gonna sweat. And near 100% humidity (raining). That means evaporation ain't gonna happen, the air is already saturated with moisture. Add to that that I was climbing 1,000 feet and I sweat like a racehorse. So, was there zero buildup of sweat under this jacket? No, nothing is going to do that. Not even an umbrella. You can't break the laws of physics and human anatomy. But did this jacket keep me reasonably comfortable in wet sticky weather? Yes. And that's all I can ask for. And with this new 2.5 layer technology, the Precip jacket is light, packs down small, and is very comfortable / quiet. I'm really happy with this Marmot rain jacket and Sunnysports.....again.

After buying several PreCip jackets for myself I bought this one for my younger brother. He loves it for the same reasons I do. Very utilitarian: can be used as a windbreaker, waterproof, breathable, very lightweight and I like that the hoodie can be stowed up into the collar. Highly recommended.
