I hike, and camp as much as possible. But I didn't buy this pack for those reasons specifically. I'm a landscape photographer, and I've been struggling with my top-loading backpacks for years. I wanted a pack that could handle my photography kit, and make it easy to access it. The ability to lay the pack on the ground, and open it from the back panel, is the feature I've always wanted. Sure, other packs have this design (some are even designed with photography in mind), but I've read a lot of negative reviews on these packs. So I went one built to last, and I've been very happy with it. I'd recommend this pack for anyone who wants to stay mobile while carrying a lot of gear. I'm of average build and height, and it fits me very well. It isn't an ultralight pack, so if you're trying to shed pounds from your load weight, it isn't going to help much. It's comfortable, has lots of space and places to store all your gear. I'm using it as my day hike/overnight pack.

When you're headed to the top of the mountain, you need a fully featured backpack to get your gear there easily and in comfort. The Mammut Trion Pro 50+7 Pack gives you all that and more. The advanced suspension system is the Contact U Frame constructed of hardy aluminum that's fully adjustable, and the back and hip and shoulder belts are all highly padded with high-density EVA foam with a stretch fabric cover. The main compartment is easily accessed by the huge back zipper, and a large reinforced front zipper pocket holds your crampons or a shovel. The height adjustable lid has both an internal and external pocket, and you can safely store your valuables in the inside zippered pocket. There are plenty of attachments points on the outside of the Trion Pro 50+7 Pack for your skis, ice axes, trekking poles, and rope. The hip belt features gear loops, too, and is removable, and there's even a spare hip belt for climbing. Lateral compression straps let you stabilize your load, and the Trion Pro 50+ 7 Pack is hydration system compatible for ultimate functionality.
