Since I am no longer to able to backpack, or even walk too many trails I bought this primarily for mobility, after much, much research. I suffer from degenerative disc disease and osteoporosis, which cancels out the surgeries (spinal fusions), I need, so in order to get around for my day-to-day needs I have been using canes and more recently a wooden hiking staff until I stumbled across LEKI products. In a word I could only say "wow" - during my military career I spent 10 years in Europe, and have come to appreciate European craftsmanship and this is hands-down five stars, six if it was allowed. A great features is the anti-shock system, which I have shown all my friends including my doctor and pain doctor who are quite impressed I try to take my Labrador for daily walks and I have to tell you this hiking staff is the best since sliced bread, I love it! Thanks LEKI

I am an adult with Muscular Dystrophy(FSHD), still able to walk, but not without some challenges. I have tried a number of canes & walking sticks, but this one lets me adjust the hieght, is light wieght, has an adjustable wrist strap which gives me additional leverage, & has a rounded top which is comfortable to lean on to rest. This can be especially helpful if I get stuck waiting in a long line. TSA does not hassel me about taking it on board the plane, & I'm able to store it in the over-head compartment fully extended. When walking, I am able to balance more fully to prevent falls. I'm careful where I store it when it is not in use, as people like to play with it and are curious with the anti-shock system. If this stick is NOT put in guarded place or position when not in use, people could accidentally trip over it or step on it and end up bending it (this is why I only gave it 4 stars). After purchasing my first pole, I got another one to keep in my car permanantly so I'd never be without one. I get a lot of compliments, and people want to know where they can get themselves one.

I bought one of these poles last December because it had a camera mount under the top knob. The pole works great and I really like the slight compression it gives when I walk/hike. I liked it so much that I bought this one so I would have a matched pair for stick walking which my wife and I just began doing. Comfortable, lightweight and performs consistently and exactly as expected.

This walking staff is just OK. Not exceptionally robust. A good walking stick, I don't know if I would depend on it for mountain walking. It collapses neatly which would make it easy to pack for an airplane trip. I have the TRACKS Sherlock hiking staff which is very robust and will withstand almost all conditions. It depends upon what your needs are. I would not trust the Leki to support my 160 lbs going down a steep incline.

LEKI Sierra Anti-Shock Pole
Enjoy the trek outdoors with the LEKI Sierra Anti-Shock Pole. It lets you trek or hike with better balance and footing, whether you're going downhill or uphill, and it decreases the stress on your legs and knees. Its SAS anti-shock system absorbs shock upon the pole's impact onto the ground, while its carbide tip provide better traction. The carbide tip comes with removable rubber tip so you can protect it while the pole is stored in your pack. Plus, the pole comes with interchangeable baskets, convenient when you want to trek on various terrains. So when you are venturing into snowy or muddy grounds, you can always switch to a larger basket. You can also adjust the height of the pole from 30.5 in. to 57 in. and secure the length using the SLS lock system so you can travel with just the right pole length. Along with an elegant rosewood knob is a soft foam grip that not only offers a comfortable grip, it absorbs moisture from sweating hands. So next time you go out for a backcountry trek, make sure to bring the LEKI Sierra Anti-Shock Pole.
