Padding is a bit too thin and the sun shade when set up is a bit short. It obstructs the kids view. We bought this carrier for hike in camping trips and after a few miles you begin to feel the lack padding. Other than that the carrier is great.

This thing is a huge pack as in what it can haul for my 10 year old. It fit him great and has plenty of room for him to grow with it and carry more of his own stuff. Haha I can’t wait until my daughter is big enough for one. We took this on a 17 mile trek and was perfect. The pack it self is very well built and comfortable. All the pockets make it great to stuff all the little items a kid could want, and the lashing straps cinched it down so it wasn’t moving all around when he was hiking. I recommend this pack 100%

Used it to carry everything for 16 miles over a weekend scout trip. Was easy to adjust, kept things dry in the light rain and still had room for more. The adjustments allowed it to be easily tightened while walking.

This pack is very adjustable and well suited to small frame backpackers. Just enough room to get the essentials in for multi-day trips, without tempting you to over pack.

Purchased this for my son to use in Boy Scouts. I'd rate it 8 out of 10. Size is perfect.. 65L gives all they need for most scout trips. He is 11 now and is just now tall enough that this fits.. a year ago this would not have fit him.. However, it's a large enough pack I think it won't be any issue fitting him until he is 18. This would also be a good pack for anyone under 5'9"ish... The color happens to match the scout uniform which we will chalk up to an added bonus. Performance: Our first test of this was a backpack camping trip. He was able to fit his 20 degree sleeping back in the bag compartment on the bottom. I was worried this wouldn't be large enough for his warm sleeping bag and would only hold his smaller one.. but to my surprise it fit. I did have to help stuff it a bit to allow it to compress so we could zip.. but it worked. The main compartment was large enough to fit everything else he needed. it was easy to pack and the way Kelty has a top load and a front zipper to access was great. The top compartment was nice for storing items he needed to access often and with ease, such as a headlamp. The side pockets were nice, but his larger water bottle wouldn't fit in them. We overcome this by using a carabineer and attaching it to the outside. I would have liked to have seen a daisy chain on the outside. The smaller zipper compartment would have been nice if the sections would have been divided with zippers to store things without them falling around but that is okay. It was very durable. We had to do some sliding down a steep hill at one point and it held up well during that.. took a wet towel to it when we got home and cleaned up good as new. The straps were comfortable to him once we got them adjusted right. I recommend loading it and letting them walk around at home so you can make the needed adjustments. It seemed like our first 30 minutes on the trail was spent stopping every few hundred yards to dial in the straps until it was comfortable to him. Overall he is very happy with this unit and I feel it will last him for many years. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a really good pack for their older kids, young adults, or shorter adults.
