I purchased this to use in emergency situations while leaving the majority of my gear at a base camp. I found it useful while sleeping in a lean-to a few weeks back when the temps dipped into the teens and the wind was blowing quite hard and pushing snow into the lean-to. The snow began to accumulate on my 15 deg down bag,so I covered the bottom half of sleeping bag with this bivy and it worked great keeping my bag dry. Do not cover the entire bag though because dew will build up in the bivy even if you open the velcro vents.
